The Ford Explorer Sets the Standard for all SUVs

The seven-passenger, three-row Ford Explorer SUV has long been a favorite option for the American car buying public, as it offers the spacious interior, up-to-date technology and legendary Ford performance that continues to influence all other entries in the segment.

Offered in five trim levels, the Explorer can be outfitted with one of three different engines. The standard 3.5-liter V6 engine makes 290 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, while an available 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost® four-cylinder manufactures 280 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque while also offering increased fuel economy. Finally, there's a 3.5-liter turbocharged EcoBoost® V6 that powers out 365 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, making easy work of passing slower traffic and taking on steep grades. All three engines come teamed with a 6-speed automatic transmission and can be equipped with all-wheel drive.

Busy families need all the cargo space they can fill, and the Explorer is ready to accommodate. With both the second- and third-row seats up, you have 21 cubic feet of capacity; fold the third-row down and that space more than doubles to 43.8 cubic feet. When you fold both sets of rear seats, you have 81.7 cubic feet of cargo space.

Standard features included on all Explorer models include 18-inch wheels, trailer sway control, a rearview camera, a 6-speaker audio system, the Ford SYNC® infotainment system, and the Ford MyKey system that allows parents to establish limits for the vehicle's speed limit and audio volume when their teen driver is in command.
